@jonas.smedegaard Yes, user starts PureOS live from a CD (they do not have disks in their computer), and this happens during bootup, before they even start desktop. (IIUC)
@jeremiah.foster as per @chris.lamb advice, I want to raise a concern about this, we either need to fix it now, or to somehow warn users about this issue.

This is NOT related to T431, but rather the workaround of that issue, I have described it in T486 and proposed a solution (workaround is also there) so I won't say anything more here as I simply do not have time to explain everything once again.

@chris.lamb: this was not needed before because Purism's assembly partner flashed the keyboard EC firmware prior to shipping.

I've removed the Purism lines as above from the /lib/udev/hwdb.d/60-keyboard.hwdb and restarted but still getting hash\tilde for the backslash\pipe key.

@jonas.smedegaard Can you try with manually removing:
lshw reports motherboard as "product: Librem 13 v2" and "version: 2.0", and firmware as "version: 4.6-a86d1b-Purism-4" and "date: 06/29/2017".

Librem 13 US models have a problem with their keyboard EC firmware, causing the pipe key to give incorrect scan code.
Sep 7 2018
