There should be no Mozilla or Firefox references in PureBrowser. This will obviously lead to confusion.

I think that this has been resolved
We can close this as it's been removed from PureOS repositories. Telegram available via flathub.
This seems to be currently working.

I'm still seeing these despite the numerous updates/reboots that have happened since along with uninstalling and reinstalling Blender.

What we need to determine is if it is "doable" under Gnome/Debian with a reasonable level of security on par with iOS, Android and Windows (as examples).

IIRC, we had a couple different customer questions about Steam functioning under PureOS, and even though I knew it wouldn't, I thought I should test so as to not tell them wrong. In other words, don't test on your production machine ;)

Correct. I'm unsure as well. I've encountered a similar "low memory" warning on a low end Windows machine (Atom, 2GB) and the warning there wasn't much better or different. This largely won't effect PureOS on Librem hardware aside from the phone which is going to max at 3-4GB. Unless we can develop some sort of active ram switching similar to iOS or Android. I will draw this to Nicole's attention.

I too can no longer reproduce this. The "grayed out" section is no longer there and changes can be made. This can be closed.

Yes, the package manager. There was no output from terminal when launched. I needed to determine another package version (Synergy) that was available, but if Synaptic is going to be dropped this ticket could be closed.

The issue remains. I'm informed of this "unable to install" issue everytime I open Software.
If you go to the hamburger menu and then add ons, you'll see the attached picture. In the past this was directed to a FSF add on page. After loading up the most recent build on a test machine without Firefox installed, the normal Firefox add-ons page is shown within PureBrowser. So the original issue remains despite my being incorrect as to the cause.
Apr 20 2018
If Firefox is also installed on the system, the PureBrowser FSF add-ons pages becomes the normal Firefox add-ons page instead.

Issue has seemed to resolve itself. Update successful.

Software and Software Install does not install tar.bz2 files, in this case, Firefox.

This issue seems to resurface after an update to Chromium. Removing the /.config folder works temporarily but the crashing issue re-occurs.

Ideally, Software would automagically open and install third party .debs and no one would have to even worry about gdebi or Archive Manager wanting to install the app.
Feb 17 2018
I'm not suggesting that Steam be included in PureOS. These are packages needed to run the Steam client. Are they non-free? If a customer chooses to install and run Steam, they should be able to.

The issue appears to be resolved. Switched to include both 'landing' and 'green,' fully updated and on PureBrowser 52.6.
Feb 6 2018
I'm no longer seeing this issue and could probably be closed.
I'm not seeing this anymore so task could be closed.

This is a pretty long standing issue for me under PureOS, getting third party .deb files to install consistently. I'm wondering if we even need to have Archive Manager as a preinstalled application and shouldn't just remove it, leaving Software as the only option for installing third party .debs.
Jan 17 2018
It's not for third party .debs. There are three noticeable things:
Jan 16 2018
On a related not: I actually don't think anyone should be using gdebi in 2018 ;-) GNOME Software can install .deb packages,
Fresh install of PureBrowser today and the default search engine is Google.

I'm not sure. What would you like me to look into?

Thanks Chris. Moved the file as suggested above. Uninstall/reinstall with same result as before.
Software has "launch" and "remove" listed as options so it reports that it is installed.
I'm seeing the same issue.
Jan 8 2018
Software reports that gdebi is installed but will not launch. It is not in the menu nor does it launch from terminal. Uninstall and reinstall from software produces the same result.
