Yes, let me look into how quickly we can get this into Byzantium. (There are two routes - wait for an update from upstream packaging, e.g. Debian, or upload our own package directly amber.) Uploading the new package directly to amber is likely the fastest way to close this bug.

Higher-than-Debian version shadows a Debian package if both are available. That is suitable for packages deliberately deviating from its Debian counterpart.
Example: debian-games (we fix an FSF-specific freedom-issue)

What is the use case for explicitly staying below a Debian revision? This may break quite a few assumptions and no Debian derivative (that I know of) does this.

jonas.smedegaard added a comment to T420: [FREEDOM ISSUE] snapd - linked to external source.

The problem tracked in this issue is that you can install non-free packages or add non-free repos - including skype and others.
Which packages can most easily be installed due to the default configuration of the tool is a subset of this general issue.

mimi89999 added a comment to T420: [FREEDOM ISSUE] snapd - linked to external source.

The problem is not that you can install non-free packages or add non-free repos. So can you in apt. The problem is that snap is using Snapcraft repository by default. Just try snap find skype, snap find clion or snap find spotify.

There are parts of the EFI stack that are proprietary, this is why we do not include them in our installer. Other projects may include them in their "non-free" repos but because we're a FSF compliant Free Software distro we don't include non-free repositories. We continue to investigate if there is a way to support GPT.
