Hmmm, this should be closed as a duplicate of https://tracker.pureos.net/T255 but I can't bring it up :P

As far as I'm aware MPRIS is DE-independent, and music players that implement MPRIS also implement minimise-on-close behavior (citation needed). I've made a list of music players for comparison (arbitrary selection based on *I've heard that name in forums so I believe it's "popular"*), and I'll also query QL upstream. (All this as time allows.)

Ok, so if the same changes ever pop up again I'll accept them (change GRUB_DISTRIBUTOR and drop GRUB_ENABLE_CRYPTODISK).

Thanks. base-files=10.1pureos1 was considered a downgrade, but an apt update and upgrade doesn't upgrade. Must have come from an old deb source I don't use any more. I'll schedule a re-installation!

Similarly, today an update re-triggered GNOME's "initial setup" wizard, and at the end invited me to start using Trisquel.

Confirmed. Thanks!

Alternatively (from #nm IRC):
Apparently v1.8.2 was just released, could @chris.lamb look at packaging and releasing that?
Thanks for pushing this through. Updated to network-manager-openvpn v1.8.0-2pureos1 and network-manager-openvpn-gnome v1.8.0-2pureos1. Unfortunately the problem persists. Reporting the details upstream in https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=788226
@mak Great news!

In the meantime, found a better workaround using nmcli (recorded downstream in Purist ticket). Still not suitable for an everyday user.
Upstream confirmed this is a duplicate of https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=788226 which has been resolved (but not released?)

(solution was to set general.useragent.compatMode.firefox to True)
This has been mentioned elsewhere, but just to document Mozilla's take on all this:

Updated upstream bug with a debug log.
Error persists with network-manager 1.10.4-1+b1 (same version of network-manager-openvpn)

Ok, I see what you mean!

Or can we get some kind of assurance from the Tor Project about the continued freedom of the Browser Bundle?
I think you mean "torbrowser-launcher" above?

Still looking for an upstream bug reference. https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/55785 suggests that it may be fixed upstream, in which case we need to get the fix into Debian Testing and then PureOS.

Most likely a configuration issue, other downstreams have similar reports...
Jan 23 2018
Just to confirm this specific issue is resolved in PureBrowser 52.5.0. Thanks!

My suggestion is that the search engine string is https://start.duckduckgo.com/?q=%s rather than https://duckduckgo.com/?q=%s. This means your search results and the DDG start page (if you click on the duck logo in your search results) don't have tips and cartoons. Although looking at the search engine options I'm not sure why I thought PureBrowser/Firefox could trivially be configured this way. I may have been confusing it with GNOME Web where it's a string not an add-on.

If we're using DuckDuckGo and want a stripped back user experience, I'd suggest the base URL of https://start.duckduckgo.com rather than https://duckduckgo.com

I've been using the GNOME desktop for VPN access for a few weeks now. Running up-to-date PureOS-green on a Librem 15v3. Currently using openvpn 2.4.4, network-manager-openvpn-gnome 1.2.8, network-manager-gnome 1.8.4.

Pi-hole has an unusual license (EUPL v1.2). I've submitted it to FSD for evaluation on that front: https://directory.fsf.org/wiki/Pi-hole

Installed this and finding it super useful. I can't remember the default settings but Indicator style: Both, Notifications: Off is visible but unobtrusive. I'm not sure if everyday users would prefer "Notifications: On" (more noticeable).

All steps completed successfully while running LibreJS (on Firefox 51.0.1 / Ubuntu 16.10). This indicates it should be successful on (for example) IceCat / GuixSD or PureBrowser / PureOS.
Adding a comment. (And resolving.)
