Have a look at this: https://www.torproject.org/download/download-easy.html.en#warning 1. Open //PureBrowser// and go to https://www.torproject.org/download/download-easy.html.en. Click to download the //Linux, 64-bit// version, choose to save file and click !!OK!!: {F151776, size=full, alt=tor1} 2. When download is completed, click the little folder icon to open the //Downloads// folder: {F151778, size=full, alt=tor2} 3. Double-click the downloaded file to open it: {F151780, size=full, alt=tor3} 4. The file will be opened in archive manager, click !!Extract!! to proceed: {F151782, size=full, alt=tor4} 5. **Select the folder** where the archive will be extracted (in this example //Desktop// folder is used) and click the !!Extract!! button (upper right corner) to unpack the archive: {F151815, size=full, alt=tor5} 6. When the extraction is complete, click to show the extracted files: {F151787, size=full, alt=tor6} 7. This is what you will see: {F151813, size=full, alt=tor7} Note that the extracted folder is named //tor-browser_en-US// and that it is placed in the //Desktop// directory. The file //start-tor-browser.desktop// is a shortcut file, but we need to edit it to point to the directory where we extracted the TorBrowser archive. 8. Right-click the //start-tor-browser.desktop// file and select to open it in other application: {F151791, size=full, alt=tor8} 9. Select **Text Editor** and click the !!Select!! button: {F151793, size=full, alt=tor9} 10. It will be opened in a text editor: {F151795, size=full, alt=tor10} Note the `Exec` and `X-TorBrowser-ExecShell` lines! **Change them** to point to the directory where your //tor-browser_en-US// is placed (in this example: //Desktop//), so for example, this will be: `Exec=/home/USERNAME/Desktop/tor-browser_en-US/Browser/start-tor-browser --detach` `X-TorBrowser-ExecShell=/home/USERNAME/Desktop/tor-browser_en-US/Browser/start-tor-browser --detach` //USERNAME// here is your username you have chosen during the installation procedure (in my case it is simply "mladen"). 11. When you change these lines, click to !!Save!! the file, and exit the text editor (!!×!! button). {F151797, size=full, alt=tor11} 12. Then right-click the //start-tor-browser.desktop// file and copy it: {F151799, size=full, alt=tor12} 13. On the left side pane click the //Home// shortcut: {F151802, size=full, alt=tor13} 14. and then on your keyboard press {key CTRL}+{key H} combination, which will reveal hidden files and folders: {F151804, size=full, alt=tor14} 15. Open folder //.local//->//share//->//Applications// and right-click->paste, so that the file //start-tor-browser.desktop// is copied to this folder: {F151806, size=full, alt=tor15} If there is no //Applications// folder, simply right-click and create it (the name is case sensitive). 16. This is it, TorBrowser shortcut will be shown in the applications menu: {F151808, size=full, alt=tor16} Start it, and when it is configured, open https://check.torproject.org/ to see if you are using the Tor network: {F151810, size=full, alt=tor17} NOTE: If you wish to upgrade TorBrowser, simply delete //tor-browser_en-US// folder from your //Desktop// directory and repeat just the steps 1-6! = See Also = You can also setup your [[PureOS/Tips/PureBrowser Tor | PureBrowser to access Tor network]], but this is not recommended by the tor authors.
