You can select a file to be sent as an attachment via email directly from the file manager. To do this you need to have a email client configured (like Thunderbird), and install the plugin nautilus-sendto.

  • Open the terminal application Tilix and type the command: sudo apt install nautilus-sendto
    • Press enter
    • Type your password and press enter again. If you get asked for confirmation, press the key: y or the key representing "yes" in your system language

install nautilus extension

  • Log out and in again
  • Right click on a file you want to send via email
  • Select the and option "send to..."

send the file

And Thunderbird opens a new email with the file already included as an attachment.
