Thunar 1.8.1 crashes immediately when clicking on any file
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Thunar was updated today (2018-10-08) from 1.6.15 to 1.8.1 and while the screenshot issue disappeared (https://tracker.pureos.net/T531), now it crashes immediately when clicking on any file. Crashing does not happen if logged in as GNOME on Xorg.

I installed Thunar when GNOME Files (Nautilus) caused a total system freeze on 2018-10-02. Nautilus got updated and is stable for now.

I'm logged in under GNOME (default Wayland), not GNOME on Xorg, and I get this from gnome-logs after Thunar crashes:

thunar[15032]: segfault at 1 ip 00007f066434375a sp 00007ffc37e4a1f0 error 6 in libX11.so.6.3.0[7f0664331000+8a000]

This was fixed on 2018-10-15 with Thunar update 1.8.2-1. Debian testing package changelog ( http://metadata.ftp-master.debian.org/changelogs//main/t/thunar/thunar_1.8.2-1_changelog ) reads in part:

thunar (1.8.2-1) unstable; urgency=medium

  [ Unit 193 ]

    - Fixed segfault while clicking or typing when using wayland.
