Description

On initial start of Purebrowser before update, no extensions show by default in PureBrowser

$ purebrowser --version
Purism PureBrowser 52.8.1

after hitting update I am directed to the nightly firefox build download.

Confirm. Since PureBorwser identifies itself as PureBrowser, instead of Firefox, the addons site thinks you are not using Firefox and won't let you install extensions.

Other sites deny access because of the modified user agent. Examples are Whatsapp web, Spotify

I think that the version of PureBrowser you showed there is quite old. I wonder if we need to discuss with the distributor about updating the software on the devices? I propose we bring this to a Production / QC meeting.

Please fix this!

I need to install an Agent Switcher to switch to the mobile view for sites that dont render properly. For example, I can't login to ZeroHedge on pureOS but can on my phone.

Purism has abandoned the development of PureBrowser for some time now.

PureOS now recommends using GNOME Web (a.k.a. Epiphany), and also provides Firefox ESR.
