gnome-tweaks: "Applications" and "Activities" names from top bar did not appear after enable "Applications menu" extension
Open, LowPublic

Description

Some hours ago i opened "tweak" application to change the desktop theme and i was looking for others ways to get a pretty desktop... I activated desktop icons and change some fonts, after that i enabled some extensions and i saw "Activities" name from top bar did not appear. I believe it would be related with "Application menu" extension that throw me an error after enabled him (i did not see the application bar at this moment, it was some minutes ago when i saw the issue) "Error to charge the extension" (translated from spanish).

I have restarted the os and disabled all extension with the general option on "tweak" application getting nothing. I installed an extension after that because i thought maybe it would be an extension i uninstalled "Gnome Global Application Menu(HUD for Gnome)" or maybe it would help me to recovery the name on top bar. When i installed the extension the name appeared again but i saw that the extension was not for that (it added some other options to the menu) but i could be the names again. If i disable this extension and restart the system, the name does not appear again but i do not need the extension for nothing and it is annoying.

The "Application menu" extension error was reported by some users days ago here: https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/6/applications-menu/ but i did not read about did not appear the name after this.

I read this in a review:

"The error is caused by missing dependency: gnome-menus. Install it (or its equivalent): Ubuntu: sudo apt-get install gnome-menus Arch Linux: sudo pacman -S gnome-menus Fedora: sudo dnf install gnome-menus"

I will test it. It is true gnome-menus is not installed but i have not idea if it would work

The "Application menu" extension it works now. I have read that it does not work if you disable "hot corners" on "tweak". Now i am going to disable the extension and reboot to test if "Applications" name it appears again. (They appears after disable but i have not idea if they would appears after reboot)

EchedeyLR assigned this task to zlatan.todoric.

Yeah, name is showed again after reboot.

Now, you should add "gnome-menus" package to preinstalled packages to avoid this problem trying to activate "Applications menu" extension. (I will change the status to "Incomplete" until you confirm it)
